Getting our hands dirty - literally - during the rice hybridization session on November 1, 2024, was exactly the learning we crave. Classroom genetics is important, but actually practicing emasculation and pollination techniques in the field laboratory brought everything into focus. Under patient expert guidance, we made mistakes, asked endless questions, and gradually improved our technique. There's deep satisfaction in mastering practical skills that could genuinely contribute to developing climate-resilient, high-yielding rice varieties Bangladesh desperately needs. This hands-on experience reminded us why we chose agriculture - to be part of solving real problems, not just studying them.
