IAAS Bangladesh PSTU stands as the 2nd Local Committee to join the national alliance of IAAS Bangladesh, alongside 18 other local committees across the country — KU, HSTU, SAU, SAU-Dhaka, RU, MBSTU, IU, BAU, GSTU, JUST, KAU, GAU, IUBAT, HAU, BRUR, TU, DIU and CVASU. Established in 2018 under the constitutional principles of IAAS Bangladesh, the committee was founded by a group of forward-thinking agricultural students at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, with the first chapter of this inspiring story penned by its inaugural Director Sk Abidur Rahman.
Officially recognized by the administrative body of Patuakhali Science and Technology University, the committee serves as a structured and credible platform for students across the Faculties of Agriculture, Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Fisheries, Nutrition and Food Science and Environmental Science and Disaster Management. With a presence spanning both the main and outer campuses of PSTU; the committee currently comprises 8 Executive Members, a dedicated Quality Board and General Members with over 300 students of PSTU indirectly engaged in its mission.
Guided by the vision "Think Globally, Act Locally," IAAS Bangladesh PSTU has grown into one of the most active and accomplished committees in the national alliance. Over the years, it has published its own Newsletter, co-organized the 67th World Congress and successfully hosted the 4th National Congress; milestones that reflect the leading committee's commitment to excellence, knowledge exchange and youth leadership in agriculture. Through seminars, working camps, exchange weeks and a range of community-based development programmes, the committee continues to empower the next generation of agricultural leaders in Bangladesh and beyond.

Nestled in the tranquil campus of Patuakhali Science and Technology University, IAAS Bangladesh PSTU was established as the 2nd Local Committee of IAAS Bangladesh. What began as a humble initiative for agricultural enthusiasts has since grown into a vibrant organization of 30 Executive Members and 130 General Members, united by a shared passion for agriculture and related sciences.
The foundation was laid by inaugural Director Sk Abidur Rahman, whose leadership gave birth to programs like Career Adda, the Agriculture Diplomatic Symposium, a Training on Research Methodology, and PSTU to Abroad initiatives that connected the campus to the wider world and equipped students with career and research insights.
Under the second Director, Abdullah Al Maruf, the committee demonstrated resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, organizing Entrepreneur Talk, Locust Plague!, the Tree Plantation Campaign 2020, and sessions on health and discipline, keeping student engagement alive through challenging times.
The third Director, Farzana Yeasmin Tithi, focused on skill and knowledge development through SkillsUp 1.0, KnowledgeUp 1.0 and Exploring the Precise Goals, while also raising environmental awareness through Delta: A Pathway for Change.
Fourth Director S. M. Riaz-us Saleheen took members beyond the classroom with field visits to the Germplasm Center and Watermelon Fields, while Road to Abroad provided a comprehensive roadmap for students pursuing higher education internationally.
A defining chapter came under the fifth Director, Famin Jahan Ayshi, amid the historic July Revolution and the emergence of a New Bangladesh. PSTU served as a host venue for World Congress 2024. The committee launched Research Basic 1.0, continued Skills Hour 3.0, completed a pilot survey on field and market conditions, and published the Local Committee's first-ever newsletter. The committee also secured 2nd place in the Global Climate Talk 2024.
Most recently, Director Anirban Saha has steered the committee toward experiential learning and professional development. Highlights include Career Compass, the 4th Youth Business Conference under Qamarun Agro Farm, a dairy cattle vaccination program, fish grading under the exchange program, and a vibrant Exchange Week featuring visits to the Germplasm Centre, the Floating Guava Market in Swarupkathi, a fish drying project, and Kuakata Sea Beach.
The latest chapter is now being written by Nafis Uddin, Local Director for the tenure 2025–2026. Carrying forward the legacy of his predecessors, Nafis brings fresh vision and energy to the committee, continuing IAAS Bangladesh PSTU's mission of empowering students and driving meaningful impact across agriculture and related sciences.
As each chapter unfolds, this remarkable journey grows ever more vibrant, promising and impactful.
Highlights of programmes and initiatives driven by the chapter.
The session covered effective vaccination protocols, giving students a clearer picture of how preventive healthcare works in livestock management. The theoretical part was followed by a hands-on practical workshop where students vaccinated livestock directly — the kind of experience that classroom lectures alone can't replicate. Attendees found it genuinely useful, and the turnout reflected that. For an organization built around agricultural sciences, events like this are less of an extra and more of a necessity.
